Who We Are
The McKee story began during the height of the Great Depression when young entrepreneur O.D. McKee began selling 5¢ snack cakes from the back of his 1928 Whippet. In 1934, he and his wife, Ruth, bought a small, failing bakery, using the family car as collateral. Money was so tight they had to put up a sheet near the back of the bakery for the family's living quarters.
Despite years of great adversity, O.D. and Ruth's rare determination finally began to pay off in 1960 when they began selling the first family pack of baked goods, naming them after their granddaughter, Debbie. Around this time, the company finally began making a steady profit.

A Family Bakery
The bakery continued to grow but remained a family bakery. O.D. and Ruth’s sons, Ellsworth and Jack, eventually took leadership positions, and today Ellsworth and Jack's children hold leadership roles. They are beginning to introduce the 4th generation of the McKee family to the business.
McKee Foods stands as a living legacy of a young couple with a big dream. O.D. and Ruth shared a strong commitment to family values that remains our company's foundation today.

BRAND HISTORY
In 1960, McKee Foods founder O.D. McKee was trying to come up with a catchy name for their new family-pack cartons of snack cakes. Thinking of what could be a good fit for the brand, O.D. arrived at the name of his 4-year-old granddaughter Debbie. Inspired by a photo of Debbie in play clothes and her favorite straw hat, he decided to use the name Little Debbie and the image of her on the logo. Not until the first cartons were being printed did Debbie's parents, Ellsworth and Sharon McKee, discover that their daughter was the namesake of the new brand.
The First Family Pack
The first family pack was produced in August of 1960 and consisted of the original snack cake, the Oatmeal Creme Pie.
Did You Know?
Family packs were one of the first multiple-item baked goods available with individually wrapped products. The cost per carton was only 49 cents. By combining a quality product with outstanding value, Little Debbie quickly became a member of America's households. After its initial introduction, more than 14 million cakes were sold within 10 months. While the Oatmeal Creme Pie was the original Little Debbie snack cake, there were 14 different varieties by 1964 including the ever-popular Nutty Buddy Wafer Bars and Swiss Cake Roll.
Since 1960, Little Debbie snacks have remained a value leader. Currently, they sell for less than other leading brands while providing quality products. More than 75 varieties are available. Little Debbie snacks are available in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, as well as on U.S. military bases throughout the world.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the donut sticks individually wrapped for a child's lunchbox or after-school snack?
Yes. Each carton contains six individually wrapped sticks, making it easy to pack one in a lunchbox, place one in a child's room, or distribute a snack without opening the entire package.
Are these donut sticks shaped to be easy for children to hold and eat?
Their elongated, grab-and-go shape is designed to be held by the stick and paired with coffee or tea. Young children should supervise eating and follow any applicable school or allergy guidance.
Does the coffee flavor make these snack cakes suitable for kids?
The product has a familiar coffee flavor with a light sweet glaze, but it also contains dairy, eggs, gluten, and soy. Check labels carefully for your child's dietary needs before serving.
Can parents offer one donut stick without opening all six?
Yes. The individual wrappers allow you to serve one portion at a time, which is convenient for lunchboxes, snack time, playrooms, and family gatherings.
Is this a useful snack for a school-age child's lunchbox or after-school routine?
Yes. The compact, individually wrapped format is convenient for school lunches, after-school snacks, car rides, and small family snack breaks.
Is this a good choice when I need portable snacks for nursery, playroom, or kids' rooms?
It can be useful for those spaces because each serving stays wrapped until needed. Store the carton where children can reach it only under appropriate supervision, and check the allergen statement before offering a stick.
Does the light sweet glaze provide enough flavor for children without needing another snack?
The snack cakes pair a coffee flavor with a light sweet glaze for a familiar cake-and-glaze taste. They are best suited to buyers who already enjoy coffee-flavored baked treats.
Can one carton work for both individual child snacks and family sharing?
Yes. Six individually wrapped sticks can be distributed one per person at a small gathering, or the carton can be kept in a kitchen pantry for casual snack breaks.
How do these donut sticks compare with a whole frosted donut for a child's snack?
The sticks are individually wrapped, portioned, and easy to carry in a lunchbox or bag. A whole donut may offer a similar baked treat but generally provides a larger, messier serving.
How do these snack cakes compare with packaged cookies for lunchbox use?
They offer a coffee-flavored cake-and-glaze experience in an elongated, dunkable format. Cookies may provide more flavor variety, while these sticks are convenient when individually wrapped portions are the priority.
How do these donut sticks compare with another grab-and-go breakfast snack?
Unlike many granola or cereal bars, these are baked snack cakes with a light sweet glaze and a coffee flavor. They contain gluten, dairy, eggs, and soy, so compare labels if your child has dietary restrictions.
Are these donut sticks a choking risk for young children?
They are not marketed as a specifically age-labeled product for infants or toddlers. Young children should eat them under supervision, and caregivers should consider their age, chewing ability, and any relevant allergy guidance.
Will an individually wrapped donut stick stay fresh in a child's lunchbox?
The wrappers help protect each snack during storage and transport. For the best quality, avoid excessive heat or crushing, and follow the package's storage instructions.
Is the six-stick quantity enough for a family snack break?
Six sticks suit personal snacking or a small gathering. Larger package-line options, including a pack of two or a 60-ounce pack of one, may be more practical for bigger households.
How should I enjoy these donut sticks with a hot drink?
Brew coffee or prepare tea as usual, then dip or dunk a donut stick into the beverage. Remove it before eating and adjust the dipping time to suit your preference.
How should I store the donut sticks after opening the carton?
Keep the remaining sticks in their individual wrappers and store the carton according to the package instructions in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposing them to excessive heat or moisture.
Can I use these donut sticks as a quick breakfast or afternoon snack?
Yes. They are ready to eat and work well with coffee or tea. Pair them with fruit, yogurt, or another item if you want a more complete breakfast or meal.
Are these donut sticks compatible with coffee and tea?
Yes. Their elongated shape is designed for dunking into coffee or tea, although they can also be eaten on their own.
Can these individually wrapped sticks fit in a lunchbox, desk drawer, or travel bag?
Yes. Their compact single-serving wrappers make them easy to store in lunchboxes, desk drawers, backpacks, commuter bags, picnic baskets, and car organizers.
What is included in the package, and is anything else required?
The six-count carton contains six individually wrapped donut sticks. No additional equipment is required, though a mug, plate, or napkin may make serving and eating more convenient.
Are there any important allergens to check before eating?
The product is declared kosher and contains dairy, eggs, gluten, and soy. Review the package label for the most current ingredient and allergen information, especially when serving someone with an allergy.
Are these donut sticks shelf stable for regular storage?
They are packaged as shelf-stable snack cakes according to the package instructions. Keep them in a cool, dry place and reseal or protect the carton after opening.
What is the difference between donut sticks and other packaged snack cakes?
Donut sticks have an elongated, narrow shape designed to be held and dunked into coffee or tea. Other snack cakes may be larger, individually portioned, frosted, or filled, so the main differences are shape, texture, and serving style.
